CECEILYN JOYCE MILLER

was born on the island of Jamaica within St. Ann's Parish, in the city of St. Ann's Bay. Shortly after her birth, she and her family migrated to the United States and made New Jersey their home.

She grew into adulthood, got married, and had eight children, six boys and two girls. As time passed and her children began to transition into adulthood, Mrs. Miller began to realize she wanted more out of life.

Eventually, she became an elementary school teacher. She taught for over fifteen years, imparting knowledge to every student who came in contact with her. In her spare time, she helped immigrants, who could not afford lawyers, complete the necessary paperwork to become American citizens.

When she finally retired from teaching, Mrs. Miller did not stop working. She spent her days as the Outreach Coordinator at St. Philips United Methodist Church in Paterson, NJ. She faithfully spent days at St. Phillips' soup kitchen with homeless, downtrodden men and women. Today, we carry on her legacy of changing the world one person at a time.
